1. First and most important in my mind is to let everyone know about NaNoWriMo. If you haven’t heard about it, November is the official National Novel Writing Month in the U.S and some other countries by now. This is the 11th year for it. For specifics just go to the site, but basically you write a novel with a minimum of 50,000 words in one month. You are declared a winner as long as you meet the minimum number of words whether the story itself is finished or not. You may end up with crap but at least you tried. So go sign up! :D

2. I loved this photo shoot with models without makeup on. Yes it’s in black and white but they still show their flaws proudly and look beautiful in spite of them.

3. I thought this was so cute! Buddha shaped pears! They put Buddha molds over the pears while they are still small and when it grows it takes the shape of Buddha! I would love to try this out with different shapes and different fruits or vegetables. :D

4. I’m absolutely in love with these twisted versions of Disney Princesses. I love the darker take on them. These were drawn long before the buyout of Disney and Marvel but I like Marvel’s take on them. My favs are ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ :D

1. I thought this article was very interesting. Three people were asked to navigate Moscow, each using something different for help. One used an iPhone, one a Blackberry Bold, and the last just a guidebook. It’s interesting that the person using the guidebook was the winner. Guess tech isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

2. Ok, this has to be the best hours signs I’ve ever seen! lol

3. I’m not the craftiest person around but I thought that this looked amazing. It’s fairly easy to make these leaf and flower prints and they look gorgeous in the end. I’m definitely going to be trying this out. :D

4. The new “Alice in Wonderland” movie by Tim Burton is coming out next year on March 5th. I’m sure many of you have seen the concept art for it already but the trailer is also now released. I can’t wait for it!

5. Is is just me or are these camcorders really ugly? They are entirely too tacky. :/

July 17, 2009

I know it’s been a loooong time since I’ve done one of these. Sorry about that. There just hasn’t been a lot that has caught my interest. At least not enough for a whole post anyway.

1. This first one is a profile on lookbook that is really awesome. I love her looks as well as the fact that she draws them as well. And her hat collection is just awesome. :D This is one of my favorite outfits.

2. The Uniform Project is a new site I’ve found. It’s very awesome. Here is an excerpt from the site:

Starting May 2009, I have pledged to wear one dress for one year as an exercise in sustainable fashion. Here’s how it works: There are 7 identical dresses, one for each day of the week. Every day I will reinvent the dress with layers, accessories and all kinds of accouterments, the majority of which will be vintage, hand-made, or hand-me-down goodies. Think of it as wearing a daily uniform with enough creative license to make it look like I just crawled out of the Marquis de Sade’s boudoir.

I just think it’s too cool for words. :D The actual dress looks totally cute and can be worn forwards or backwards or open like a tunic. I’m really hoping when her blog opens that she’ll let us know how to make one because I would totally rock that in different colors as well.

3. This is an awesome video by Nyle for the song “Let the Beat Build”. The song is already awesome but the video makes it even cooler. The video was shot in one take with the song recorded simultaneously. Very cool and you have to see it.

4. I love this site called Steph’s Closet. Steph tracks down new nail polish collections that come out and shows how all of them look on your nail, not just the bottle. She also compares dupes in case you really like a color cut don’t want to buy an expensive bottle of polish. I also love her nail art.

5. And last but not least a nice article about the top 10 beach necessities. It’s common sense but a reminder never hurts, especially when it comes to sun safety.

6. I have to say that this is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. This clock is just awesome. I want one for myself.

Fab Friday: 3/27/2009

March 27, 2009

Here is another edition of Fab Friday. I was going over my Google Bookmarks and realized that there were some great links there, so I figured I’d share a few. :D

1. For a lot of spring is coming if not already here. This is a great article about how to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring. This is something I totally need to do, really soon.

2. Clutches are so awesome and I really want one now. This article has great advice for those of us that don’t know how to shop for one.

3. I just found this site and I’m totally loving it. It’s called weardrobe and it about what people wear and how they wear it. I love seeing the different ways people wear their clothes.

4. Ok. The Unisex Circle Scarf is completely awesome! I love how versatile it is! You can wear it all the ways they list plus others if you are creative enough. I want it sooooo badly in a variety of colors. :D

5. Clutch is a great online magazine for African American women, that I found very recently. It has really wonderful articles on many different topics, everything from beauty and fashion to entertainment and even parenting. A full issue is released every Monday but it is updated several times a day.

Fab Friday 1/30/09

January 31, 2009

What’s up guys? Here is another edition of Fab Friday. Sorry for posting this so late. I totally forgot about. :D At least it’s technically Friday, right?

1. This link is actually to an Etsy shop which is called ripe cards. It sells handmade greeting cards for the mature audience and they are hilarious. :D Here are some of my favs: what… and get better

2. This is an article from the NY Times about a small apartment that is 24 rooms in one due to reconfigurable walls. It actually looks really awesome. And you can also view a slideshow of the apartment.

3. This was a great post about being short. Being about 5’1″ myself, this post was a great find for me. I totally understand what it feels like to be the shortest person in the room. Please read if you are a ‘Lilliputian’ like myself or even if you aren’t. ;)

4. From Knock Out Cosmetics is a new formula of nail polish that is matte instead of shiny. I’m loving it! It comes in black and ivory. The black just looks gorgeous!

5. There has been so much going on about hooping lately, especially from the lovely Gala. Anyway, this post seems like a great place to start if you are interested in this sort of thing. I need a new exercise routine (and by that I mean that I need one period) but I tend to get bored really easily. I’ve been thinking of taking up hooping since it seems so fun!
