January 2, 2009

Here is my first edition of Fab Friday for the new year. Not much going on yet but I figured I’d throw it up anyway. lol Hope everyone’s New Year was awesome. Here’s to the beginning of a great year for all of us. :D

1. I saw this alarm clock while browsing Urban Outfitters. I think it’s just so clever! When the alarm goes off the three shapes pop off the clock and you have to find and fit the three shapes back into their correct places to get the alarm to shut off. At least you know you won’t be able to hit the snooze and be late to work. :D

2. The most organized closet I have ever seen. It is too great. This is something that I could only ever dream of achieving.

3. This library has to be the coolest room that I have ever seen in my entire life! It’s contents make me green beyond envy. What I wouldn’t give to be able to have something like that in my house. :D

December 12, 2008

1. Found this link through Christina. It’s called Glamour Check and it’s all about makeup. :D I thought it was just great and thought I’d share it. She runs it with Ashbe and Nicolah.

2. I love Aeri. She has great videos on YouTube teaching you how to cook Korean dishes. My mom used to always try to teach me herself but Aeri makes it much easier because she gives actual measurements! lol

3. I found these two articles useful for those that want to make the most out of your computer. It’s useful, free software for Macs and for Windows. I found some pretty interesting things, especially since my new Macbook is coming in any day now. :D

4. Poladroid project allows you to upload your photos and put them into a polaroid format for printing or uploading on the internet. It looks too awesome! It’s only for Macs right now but they are alpha testing the Windows version currently. I can’t wait until I can use it. Since real Polaroids are going out with the cease of film production this will have to do for us.

December 5, 2008

Yes! It’s that time of the week again!

1. Funny yet useful article about getting use from your digital camera! I thought it was hilarious, especially the one entitled ‘Evidence for your Defense’. But there are definitely some useful tips there. Including taking a picture of your name and number to keep saved on your camera in case you lose it.

2. Saw this great article about a cool new credit card with a keypad. Supposed to be more secure. You type in your pin when you make an online purchase and the security code pops up. This way it’s not just printed on the card itself. Pretty awesome!

3. Babyassface (I love that name!) had an article about the benefits of cold showers in skin care. I don’t know if I’d try it myself while it’s cold outside, but it’s something to think about. Tell me if you try it! :D

4. Since the holidays are coming fast, I figured I’d give some links to some good gift guides for those of us who wait until the last minute. *cough*me*cough* Here are a few from my favorite websites: Periodic Elements of Style, beauty girl musings, Mademoiselle Robot, and HolidaySugar. I linked their labels or tags so you can keep checking back those specific links instead of trying to search their whole sites as they post more ideas over the next couple of weeks.

5. And last but not least! Gala is having a giveaway to celebrate both Christmas and iCing’s upcoming 2 year anniversary. So everyday she is holding a contest that you can enter to win some pretty cool stuff. here is the list of things you can win.

November 14, 2008

1. I know I’m late since we are at the end of the second week of November but always remember that it’s never too late to join in the fun! (Unless it’s already the 30th. lol) Sign up for NaNoWriMo now and start writing your novel! It’s fun and you never know you may become published!

2.I just found this site this week. It’s called Giveaway of the Day. Everyday they give out one free licensed software for an entire day. It’s not just a free trial but the actual complete software version as if you paid for it It’s totally cool and I’ve been checking it everyday for any cool new software I would use.

3. I just saw this article at Apartment Therapy Unplugged. It’s for those of us switching to a new computer even if it’s a new platform. This is a cord that lets you automatically move your important files, music, and internet preferences from one computer to another. Seems like a pretty cool idea. But I’m not sure I’d want to move over everything.

4. This video is of Google’s New York office. It’s so amazing! I would love to work there. Figured I’d share if you hadn’t seen it already. Here’s a link to it: clickie

5. Gala wrote a great article for a magazine about developing your own personal style. It’s just an amazing article that isn’t about what’s in this season, but about how to develop your own style that works for you. She posted it up on her flickr here. Please read, it’s totally awesome. :D

1. Team Sugar is an online community for women. You can join and chat with other women or do like me and just lurk and surf. It has different ‘sites’ with different themes. They give you the latest news in your favorite categories. You can surf them all everyday or do like me and just visit your favorites. Here are the ones that I visit everyday: PopSugar for my celeb fix; FabSugar and BellaSugar for my fashion and beauty fix; and last but certainly not least, my favorite out of all of them GeekSugar for my technology fetish. :D

2. This site I actually found on the aforementioned GeekSugar this week actually. This site is so awesome! It will probably end up making me spend even more money than I normally do. :D It’s Woot: One Day, One Deal. Everyday they offer one item at a very discounted price. You have that one day to buy it, or at least until they run out of items. You can look back at old items (but not buy them) and they also have a blog.

3. Gala is only one of the best people anywhere! I love her site and I visit everyday. Her articles are great and her sense of self is just amazing! She is on my blogroll and I totally encourage anyone to visit her site who doesn’t already. Which I highly doubt. :D

4. I love blazers. I just absolutely love them! I plan to buy a whole slew of them for this fall season. A new trend this season is the Piped Blazer as seen here. Take a look! Hopefully I’ll be having this soon!

5. For those of you planning on losing your minds this November for NaNoWriMo I have a link that I found while trolling their forums. It has a bunch of links that should helpful. And even those who don’t plan to participate, the links should be helpful for any writer. It’s 85 Resources for Fiction Writing.
