The Secret of Moonacre

October 11, 2011

Credited to Aranel Online

I found this move on Netflix a while a ago and decided to watch it.As you can see from my blog layout, I really loved it. :) The sets and the costumes of this movie were really gorgeous! Just looking at it from an esthetic point of view, it was beyond amazing. The picture above is that of the main character, Maria, in her room at Moonacre. Both that dress and that room are to die for.

The Secret of Moonacre is actually based on a book called The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge. I plan to read the book as soon as I find a copy of it. Here is the summary from Netflix.

When the fantastic tale in her magical storybook comes to life, young Maria Merryweather (Dakota Blue Richards) finds herself trapped in an ancient feud between her family and a rival clan. Now, she must locate the source of their quarrel: a group of magic pearls. Gabor Csupo directs this adaptation of Elizabeth Goudge’s award-winning children’s book, The Little White Horse. Tim Curry and Ioan Gruffudd co-star.

I would love to live in this house! Everything about it just screams fairy tale. I would recommend this movie to anyone that still has that child inside of them or just wants to watch a beautiful movie.

Harry Potter, The End of an Era

July 23, 2011

The end of the Harry Potter saga is here. The last book has been written, the last movie made. Years of magic and mystery that have kept the children within us alive and kicking has now come to an end. It’s bittersweet really. We waited with bated breath for each new book to come out, wanting to read the next chapter in Harry’s story. Then we waited in anticipation for each new movie to be released, hoping it they would live up the the magic of the books. We wanted to know how the story ended. And now they have come, we are sad to see them go.

Hogwarts was just as much home to us, as it was to the students that inhabited it. We imagined which house we would be sorted to. (I’m totally a Ravenclaw, by the way.) We imagine the type of wand we would have and which classes would be our favorites. This was a world that was as real to us as the one we actually live in.

I went to see ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2′ this past weekend. I have to say that, combined with Part 1, this was my favorite of the entire series. There was so much that happened here and so many things explained. I really loved Neville in this movie. He really came into his own. And of course, I’ve always loved the Snape storyline. He has always been my favorite character. I will also say that I could have done without the epilogue. I never really liked that part of the book either.

If only we could go back in time and see it all from the beginning again. Now would be a great time to have to have a time turner. However, we still have our books to read over and over. We have our movies to watch again and again. We even have a an amusement park to go to now. (Which I’m, even now, planning a trip to for my birthday.) We have an entire community of people to reminisce with. And a whole new generation to introduce the magic of Harry Potter too. (I’m planning to gift the Harry Potter series to my younger cousins for Christmas.)

How are you dealing with the end of the Harry Potter era? Have you gone to see the movie, yet?

Cars 2 is an animated movie by Pixar that brings back our favorite characters from the first movie, ‘Cars’. Mater has a more starring role in this movie, rightfully. ;) I’m still a big kid and I love animated movies. The first movie was very cute and this one looks like it may be better. This one comes out on June 24th.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon continues the saga started in the previous two ‘Transformers’ movies. I absolutely loved the first two movies and can’t wait for this one to be released. I love the action and the technology. Bumblebee is my favorite. :) Too cute. This one comes out on July 1st.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is the very last in the Harry Potter series. This should go without saying really. I’ve read all of the books and I’ve watched all of the movies thus far. I absolutely loved Part 1 and was upset that I had to wait all of these months to watch this last part. While I can’t wait for it to come out, I’m also kind of sad to see the saga end. In this last movie we see the final confrontation between Harry and Voldermort. It’s sure to be amazing. This one comes out July 15th.

This concludes my series on what movies I’m looking forward to this summer. What are you guys planning to watch?

Summer Movie Releases Part 1

April 28, 2011

Credited to weheartit

Summer is coming! And with it comes something that we all love and look forward to every year. Do you know what that is?

Summer movies! Yes! Those summer releases that start getting advertised all the way back in November. Those movies that everyone makes a big deal about being so awesome. That is what I’m talking about. This post will be about all of the movies that I’m looking forward to seeing this summer. In fact, one of them will be starting very, very soon.

Fast Five is the lastest installment in ‘The Fast and the Furious’ series. This movie takes place chronologically after the previous movie ‘Fast and Furious’ but before ‘Tokyo Drift’. I have to say that I’ve looking forward to this movie ever since the last one came out. :) I’ve loved this entire series from the very beginning. I can’t get enough of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. Plus the movies brings in the best characters from previous moves. (God I love Han!) This one releases on April 29th (tomorrow) and I’m definitely up to seeing this. Even if I have to see it by myself (my sister is officially a traitor.)

Priest is a new vampire movie about a priest that breaks his vows in order to rescue his niece from the vampires that kidnapped her. It looks like an awesome movie with all of the elements that I love. Vampires, a corrupt religious sect, action, horror, Paul Bettany, and Cam Gigandet. What more do you need really? ;) This releases on May 13th.

Credited to Classic Pirates

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is the newest ‘Pirates’ movie with the ever hot Johnny Depp starring in it, of course. I’ve been waiting for this release ever since the mere rumors of another movie coming out were being talked about online. In this movie Jack Sparrow is searching for the Fountain of Youth, with all of the requisite danger in the way of course. Geoffrey Rush returns along with some new faces such as Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane. This should be a good one! It releases on May 20th.

Green Lantern is another super hero movie that is coming out this summer. I’m a bit of a geek but I love superheroes. I watch ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ and ‘X-Men’ when I was little. I also love Batman and Spiderman and everything the comic world can give me. That being said, I’m all over this movie. Plus, Ryan Reynolds is in it, which is just makes this a no brainer in my opinion. This one comes out on June 17th.

This concludes ‘Part 1′ of this summer movie post. There will be one more to follow with the rest of the movies I’m looking forward to seeing this summer.

Potter and Packing!

November 19, 2010

So much is going on this weekend! First of all I went to see ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1″ And may I say that is was amazing! It was great from beginning to end. I’m not going to spoil it for anybody so I can’t say too much, but I was not disappointed at all. Really I’m so impatient for Part 2 to be released now. The whole movie was really just so gorgeous. It’s odd because it’s the first movie that doesn’t happen at Hogwarts at all, it’s all new places to see the characters in. It is a very dark movie, but then again so is the book. But there are some funny scenes to cut back on all the drama. Overall it was an amazing movie and I’m excited to see the next part. :D

Anyway, now that I’ve watched the movie I can spend the rest of my weekend getting ready for my trip! I’ve been getting lists ready and planning for weeks now for my family cruise to the Bahamas. :) It’s going to be amazing! I can just feel it. We haven’t been on a real vacation in a loooooong while, so I’m very psyched up for this. It’s a 5 day 4 night cruise through Thanksgiving.

I just have a few last minute things to do. Finish up the last of the packing, get my eyebrows done, go to the store for a few travel essentials, etc. I just want to get everything done and wake up to Monday morning when we leave for Florida to board. :D This whole week has been going by so slow, it’s been ridiculous. But it’s almost here now! Well, I have to get back to my packing and laundry while listening to my Glee Christmas album. ;) Have fun guys!
