The start of a new year

January 2, 2011

This is a new year and there are new things to see and do! I’ve finally figured out, after many years of failure, that I’m not really a ‘Resolutions’ type of person. I really don’t do well with those types of goals I think. My mind just doesn’t work that way. If I try to force I end up quitting way to early. I’m not the type of person that likes to feel I have to do something regularly, I get bored really easily. So I’m not going to do that this year. I’m really going for much more broad types of goals, more for improving my life in general and not make specific goals or resolutions. I think it’s best for everyone involved. :D

Now, on to other things. This is a bit late but I figured I’d do quick run down on my book challenges for last year. I started a bit late for please forgive me. I didn’t really even start many of them, much less finish them. You can see all of the challenges I participated in on my book challenge page. They’ll be moving to the bottom of the page soon as I put up my new ones for this year. Of the five that I managed to join last year I completed 2 of them. I finished the Historical Reading Challenge and the Fantasy Reading Challenge. I do plan to join some more challenges this year, hopefully being able to have more time to read.

That being said, I’m hoping that this year will be a great one. I’m really looking forward to starting fresh, despite coming into the new year with a cold. :/ (Christmas was so not fun, let me tell you.) But out with the old and in with the new. I have plans this this year! I’m hoping to be able to see them through to completion this year. *crosses fingers for luck*

Exercise!

March 6, 2010

I’ve finally gotten around to the ‘healthy’ part of my resolutions for the year. It only took me 2 months. lol I actually joined the Omni Gym about a week ago since they were having a special where the sign up fee was only $1. Normally it’s $179 so I really couldn’t pass it up. What surprises me is that I’m actually using the membership. We have two in the area so I got the membership for both and my sister was already a member so I’ve gone both with her and by myself. In the past week I’ve actually gone a total of 4 times which is amazing for me because I normally crap out after 1 or 2 visits. But I figure since I’m paying for it monthly I may as well get my money’s worth.

I have to say I’ve forgotten how sore you get when you first start working out. My legs are so mad at me right now. lol I’ve been using the elliptical and the treadmill for my cardio as well as some of the other machines that I actually know how to work. I also tried a yoga class and I have to say that yoga really kicked my ass. I’m not sure if it was because I was just sore from not being used to working out or what, but it just about killed me. Anyway, I’ve also started to try watching my diet as well and I’m drinking more water. We’ll have to see how it works out in the long run, but I’m pretty proud of myself at the moment. :D

Progress

January 4, 2010

How is everyone doing so far in the new year? Mine is pretty good so far and more or less on target. I’ve been trying very hard to stay focused on my resolutions that I made for 2010 and I’ve been pretty successful. I’ve been writing everyday in my 5 year journal and I’ve also been taking at least one picture a day for my Project 365. I never really realized how hard it can be to take one picture every day or find something to write about even if I haven’t done much of anything. Since I tend to work at night most days a week I’ve taken to bringing my notebook with me to work so I can write at night.

I’ve also been working on my resolution to be more healthy. I’ve cut out my coffee, instead I’m drinking more tea now (I love Earl Grey) and hot chocolate in the mornings. I’m also drinking water, Gatorade, and V8 Splash (Fruit Medley is amazing) instead of sodas. I’m going to go shopping later this week and look up either a good multivitamin or vitamin system to start taking regularly. I’ll have to do some more research on that first. And I’m also working out a regular fitness schedule that I can start next week. I’ll work out in the morning before I take a shower and go to work. Hopefully it’s something I’ll be able to stick to.

That’s been my progress so far. How about you guys? Have you started on your own Resolutions? And if so, how are they coming along?

P.S. Before I forget there is a series of articles up entitled Make your Life Amazing that is being posted up on Charade Style. It’s pretty amazing and evens offers homework everyday to help you along. I’m planning on starting on it this week to catch up with the days I missed then keep up for the rest of the month. I completely suggest you guys check it out. :D

New Years Resolutions 2010

December 31, 2009

new years

It’s only a couple of more hours before 2010. Another year is upon us and this will be the first year in a while that I’ve actually made any resolutions. I feel that this is the year that I will actually get my life together and do more. So, I present you with my list of official resolutions for 2010.

1. I will write more, even if it’s only a little bit. I’ve already started to help myself with this revolution. I bought a 5 year diary which is divided into one day on each page with small sections to write for each year. You just have to fill in the year and write a small bit each day. This will help me get started without having an entire page to fill which just freaks me out and that’s why I never finished a diary or journal I think. A sentence or two would be something that I could do and if I forget one day I don’t have an entire empty page staring at me.

2. I will become healthier. I’m definitely going to start exercising. I bought some 10 Minute Solution exercise DVD’s since I don’t really have too much time to work out. And I don’t have the money for a gym membership even it I did have the time. I will also start to eat healthier and drinking more water. I’ve already started to cut down on my soda intake and drink Gatorade or V8 when I want something sweet to drink. I will also start a vitamin regimen. I want vitamins to help with my health as well as to help with my skin.

3. I will take more pictures. I want to start doing Project 365 and take at least one picture each day. I have this perfectly good camera that I rarely use. I need to start this coming year. Pictures of anything really, just something to help get my creative juices going.

4. I will become more organized. I will start by using a planner this year and actually putting it to use I found the WeekDate planner which is a monthly, weekly, and daily planner all in one. I absolutely love it! You’d have to go to the website to see all it can do but personally I can’t wait for next year when I can start to use it.

5. I will blog more and find a focus for the site. I want to blog more consistently starting this coming year and becoming more focused in what I blog about. I will of course have to plan more for my blogs which is where the previous resolution comes back in to play. ;)

These are just the basics of course and now I just have to follow through with all of them. I’d love to hear what your resolutions are for the coming year.
